Oh my God! I'm a Nerd!!!

http://www.scalzi.com/whatever/003785.html

PJ and I just finished looking at a "top 50 Science fiction movies of all time" web site/blog thingy. Apparently I have seen more of these science fiction movies! WHAAATTT!!! PJ thinks that he should get bonus points for seeing most of them at least 3 times. I think that if he's already on the nerd meter for seeing over half the movies he shouldn't complain. If I took out all the movies that I only saw a few minutes of because they bored the snot out of me, I WOULD STILL HAVE 25 MOVIES!!! Man, I didn't think I was that in to the science fiction genre. I thought I was more in to the... well, I didn't think I was that in to science fiction, anyway.

The Hammonds are staying on the farm, and their neighbor is renting the rest of their land from them. Now if we could only convince dad that it was a good idea to do the same...

We also got a list of the top 100 books according to Time Magazine.

http://www.time.com/time/2005/100books/the_complete_list.html

I have not read all the books, only about 17 to my calculations. I have seen the movie versions of lots of them, but I don't think that counts on the list. I think the next big book on my list is to finish Reading Lolita in Tehran. I started in the summer, and haven't really kept up with it for a couple of months. Next big movie will be Proof. We saw the play in Winnipeg the second year we had season's tickets to MTC. Those were good plays. I wish Winnipeg were closer, so I could go to the plays. It is just too hard to schedule and expensive to justify driving 4 hours for a 2 hour show. No matter how good the plays are, and how much I miss them.

Hope you are having a good day!

nerdy nerdy nerdy...

Ha ha... that's me taunting. I am NOT a nerd, as I think I have only seen 3 of the movies on that list. And really, with one of them being a disney flick, I don't think it should count... yep, count em-- 3. No nerdiness here.

:)

we still love you, even if you are a nerd!

Besides, nerds are cool.

My results:

13 movies, 4 books. Of the movies, several were ONLY because of the boy... ie any ALIEN crap movies. Most of those movies i haven't even heard of.

that book list is horrid. Of the 4 books, one of the ones i've read is the grapes of wrath, which was without a doubt one of the WORST books i have EVER read. STEINBECK SUCKS. !!!! so, it's not looking good for me to read the others if they are like that one, although there are a few on there i'd like to read someday. Also, i was pleasantly surprised to see Are you there God, it's me Margaret. That was one of my faves as a girl!

It appears I read 8 of the books on the list, but does it count when you read most of them for school??? Or, you didn't understand what the hell was going on, like with Crying of Lot 49???

Okay, you have to let me know how that Lolita in Tehran book is. I've been on the verge of buying it for months. Is it worth it?
